Geoff Merrill Wines
Multi regional, Australia

The Geoff Merrill winemaking philosophy has been and always will be, to make wine that allows regional, varietal and vintage expression, without excessive winemaker intervention.

Geoff Merrill Wines has vineyards in three of Australia 's classic viticultural regions, "Pimpala vineyard" McLaren Vale, "Graymoor vineyard" Coonawarra and the "Pogue" vineyard in the Goulburn Valley.

The individual growing conditions of each site affords us the unique opportunity of being able to blend wines highlighting the best of what each region has to offer.

Sauvignon Blanc 2004
Cut grass and fresh crisp apple dominate the aroma with complex citrus and melon fruit characters evident. The palate is clean and delicate showing flavours of melon, pear and lime. These flavours last well in the mouth due to well-balanced acid providing length of flavour. This wine should be served slightly chilled and consumed early in its life.

Grenache Rose 2004

The colour is cherry red with vibrant purple hues. On the aroma, ester's of raspberry are evident, with complex notes of aniseed and a hint of white pepper in the background. The palate has initial sweet fruit, which progresses to the flavour and piquancy of red cherries, with underlying characters of rosewater and aniseed. A savoury, serious wine with excellent acid balance and clean lingering finish.

Cabernet Shiraz 2002

The colour is a dark cherry red with purple hues. The aroma displays lifted red berry fruits with a subtle hint of mixed herbs and vanillin American oak. The best attributes of both varieties come through on the palate. Spicy red berry Shiraz and herbaceous Cabernet combine to add richness, structure and length of flavour.
